Despite the mean snow scatter last night, everyone is looking forward to another Salt Lake summer—we got a good taste of it last week when everyone including the daffodils perked up. Red Butte Gardens started sending out tempting info about concerts to come and we could just taste the frost meliting into al fresco. Sunday afternoon looked like a latter-day Seurat, syrupy sunshine, happy dogs, vitamin-D hungry kids.

So besides the bummer snow, it was a slap in the coming season's face to hear today that chef Dave Bible is leaving Silver Star Cafe.

We've enjoyed Bible's food wherever he's cooked, but up high on the mountaintop, the setting and his cooking created a little magical oasis in summertime. In case you missed the item, Guy Fierri agreed when he swung by Silver Star on his recent Utah journey. That combination of food and setting is what won the place a Salt Lake magazine Dining Award, plus Readers Choice accolades.

Chef Bible is off on an adventure, for the helluvit, for the halibut, cooking at a fishing lodge in Alaska. Good for him. We're trusting that Silver Star owners Lisa and Jeff Ward will find someone who can fill his shoes.

Ave atque vale, David.
