Salt Lake isn't the only community wondering if its local daily newspaper will be on the fire-sale block.
Jon Xavier of Silicon Valley Business Journal pondered the future of the once-mighty San Jose Mercury News, one of The Salt Lake Tribune's many troubled siblings.
Says Xavier: "Billionaires buying newsoutlets is becoming almost commonplace. Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post. And Pierre Omidyar started the Intercept with NSA-busting reporter Glenn Greenwald.
So which billionaire might want to snap up the Merc?"
Utah should be wondering the same thing about the endangered Trib.
