The last day of the ski season is a rite of passage for spring, and for two of Park City’s three resorts, that means the spring season officially begins on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 4:01 p.m.—just as the lifts at Deer Valley and Canyons Resorts put an official end to winter.
In unassuming form, Deer Valley will close the season with little more than soft corduroy and lounge chairs—a mighty fine combination for purists who want to covet their final turns up until the very end.
But over at the Canyons, closing day has a little more spirit, sending off the season with the two-finger “sign of the horns” salute. Come dressed in your best '80s gear and slash up the trails before slashing out with the parody hair band, Nigel and the Metal Dogs. With all the head banging during a set of metal cover songs from the '80s, you’ll probably have enough rhythm to enter the air guitar solo contest, win free gear and shut the place down until it starts rocking out to a summer tune in just over a month.
Events start at 3 p.m. in the Canyons’ Resort Village. For more information, visit the Canyons website.
