Still looking for a Mother's Day gift? We know the perfect place.

Thirty years ago, Katy Culp and Sonnie Swindle opened Bloomingsales, a full service florist located at 147 E. 800 South, Salt Lake City. Today, the shop is in Foothill Village with many other local stores. Along with flowers by the stem, bouquet or vase, they offer seasonal décor, jewelry and more.

"We're in the center of the village, which is a fabulous location,” says Melissa Mecham, the store's manager. “It's a great place to be, because there's a lot of good shopping right here.”

Tragically, Culp passed away from cancer several years ago. Swindle still runs the business.

Customers come from all over the Salt Lake Valley, and beyond. “We have a lot of clients who come in from Park City, a lot from Sandy, Holladay, North Salt Lake and Bountiful,” Mecham says. “We also have a lot of people from out of town say 'If I'm in Salt Lake, I always stop in.'”

Mecham says the selection pulls customers in. “We have things you can't find in any of the big box stores,” she says. “We provide complimentary gift wrapping and make it really easy so once you walk out of here, you not only have a gift, but you have it beautifully wrapped.”

For Mother's Day, Mecham recommends a pair of comfortable sandles, a canvas hat and Chrysalis jewelry. You'll also find bath and body products and purses from Baggallini and Vera Bradley.

This summer, drop by to pick up décor for the Fourth of July, along with a portable oven for pizza and flatbread and plastic dishware for your next barbecue.

Of course, Bloomingsales still the perfect spot to buy Mom a bouquet of flowers.
