MacCools unveiled its Beer Garden patio, along with a menu of 117 beers, at their Layton location on June 6.

Drinks on the Beer Garden patio

Tyler Seldonridge, Beer Garden manager, says a lot of prep went into garden. “We actually have a garden, where we’re growing several kinds of squash and herbs we are able to use in house for our recipes,” he says. “It’s a very up close and personal experience with your food.”

It’s also a way to unwind after a day staring at a computer screen. “It’s going to be hot mid-day, but evenings, after work, is the perfect time to come have a beer and an appetizer before you go home,” Seldonridge says. “There’s just nothing like this in Davis County.”

Beer lovers dined on appetizers and tried the beer at the opening.

We asked our server to recommend an on-tap pale ale and ended up with Squatters Full Suspension to compliment our appetizers.

Later, we went for a darker beer, Wychwood Hobgoblin off the menu.

Try all 117 beer, or come learn about a new brew at MacCools Beer Garden on Thursday nights. A Wasatch Squatters representative will drop by to discuss a different beer every week. Click here for more info.
