It's really simple: The more you know about wine, the more you enjoy it.

Fortunately, that's not true of everyone. We have a lot of non-snob wine experts in SLC and several of them want to share what they know with you, so you too can have more fun drinking wine. Without getting snobby about it.

Francis Fecteau teaches wine classes at Caputo's. And Jimmy Santangelo's Wine Academy of Utah is about to start two series of classes, one for simple enjoyment and another to help you be a wine host without fear.

The Executive Wine Series is designed for business professionals–you end the course with knowledge that helps you choose wine and select wine pairings without feeling like a bozo. The class meets Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m at the Alta Club (a treat to visit in itself) one session is How to Navigate a Restaurant Wine List, the other is How to Taste Wine like a Pro. June 18 and 25.

The Level 1 Award in Wine is a class designed by the London-based Wine and Spirit Education Trust as a stand-alone class or as the first step of more serious wine certification. It meets Mondays from 7-9 p.m. starting June 16.
