Play review: Boom at SLAC

The Salt Lake Acting Company scored a homerun with Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's Boom. Set in a school basement lab (with realistic-looking concrete brick walls, pipes, and locker-esque cabinets) the play literally starts with a bang, or several of them, as Barbara, played by Holly Fowers forcefully strikes a timpani drum. Sufjan Stevens Sold Out Tonight, Neon Trees Tomorrow

As always in Salt Lake, the music never stops. If you can score a ticket to tonight's Sufjan Stevens concert at Kingsbury Hall, venture forth! As we said in the current issue of Salt Lake Magazine, Stevens is definitely worth a listen - intelligent, interesting, fantastical. What's On this Weekend

Folks, I love Halloween. It's my favorite holiday and I'm disappointed that not many folks will celebrate it here on Sunday. What gives? Sure it's fine to celebrate it on Saturday, too. But Sunday is Halloween, and it seems like most of the Halloween activities will be closed. Boo. Read More
