Steep and deep at Alta Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon
A decade ago, Snowbird Ski Resort and Alta Ski Area up Little Cottonwood Canyon were linked by a single lift. Along with the opportunity to ski two very different ski areas with very different slopes—Snowbird is known for its steep and deep runs and powder and Alta is one of the country’s oldest resorts—the union opened up skier access to a total of 4,700 acres, nine base lodges and 22 restaurants. A pass good for both areas will be $99 this season.
Big Cottonwood Canyon offers a second double-resort combo at Brighton Ski Resort and Solitude Mountain Resort. The two are linked by the SolBright trail, giving skiers and boarders the opportunity to ski and snowboard on very different slopes at two very different resorts with two very different personalities. The limitation on this interconnect is that the trail between the two can be difficult to negotiate, is not always open and is not always groomed. The pass for the connected areas is $82.
