*Post-film discussion moderated by Doug Fabrizio, host of KUER’s RadioWest

From the team behind The Invisible War comes a startling exposé of sexual assaults on U.S. campuses, institutional cover-ups and the brutal social toll on victims and their families. Weaving together verité footage and first-person testimonies, the film follows survivors as they pursue their education while fighting for justice—despite harsh retaliation, harassment and pushback at every level.

Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line

I am living in a dream when I wake
You are my bright shining star you guide the way...

Wake. The evocative one-word title speaks volumes about what's happening on Nora Jane Struthers' latest album. For the thirty-year old singer-songwriter, it's "wake" in several senses of the word. There's the trail of a life and career behind her, the slipstream of lessons learned. There's the quiet observance and letting go of who she has been up until now as both an artist and a person. And most of all, there's the stirring of something new, an opening of a door and wide-eyed rush forward into a place of discovery and dizzying possibilities. And it's all set to a soundtrack that resonates with the warm uplift of the first day of spring.

Introduction to Cowboy Poetry

Poetic works by master cowboy poets, past and present, will be studied, and class members will have the opportunity to create and critique their own compositions. Recitation will also be addressed. While serious attention will be paid to the hows and whys of cowboy poetry, this course will be all about the enjoyment that comes from well-written and carefully crafted words.

Opening Reception: May 15, 7-9 p.m.

CUAC Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 11a.m.–6p.m., Saturday, 12–4 p.m.

Relational Forms highlights select furniture pieces designed by architect Robert Bliss presented with intricate, two-dimensional artwork by Anna Campbell Bliss. Robert Bliss was educated at Black Mountain College and MIT and had a successful career as an architect in Minnesota before heading the Department of Architecture at the University of Utah. Robert's furniture reflects modern designs emphasizing practicality without compromising a minimalist style. Anna Campbell Bliss earned degrees from Wellesley College and Harvard studying math, art history and architecture. Her paintings and prints show a bridge of connection between these subjects and the more contemporary influence of computer science. Her precise screen-prints show her fascination with the complex relationships of color, geometry, pattern and repetition.

Ivan & Alyosha

All the Times We Had, Ivan & Alyosha's first full-length album, encapsulates the personalized blend of rousing songcraft, infectious melodic hooks and thoughtful lyrical introspection that's already endeared the band to just about anyone who's witnessed one of their effortlessly uplifting live shows, or who's heard either of their two prior indie EP releases.

The Seattle combo–which borrows its name from a pair of characters from Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov–delivers its songs of struggle, perseverance and spirituality with a resilient, upbeat attitude that's reflected in their bubbly brew of stirringly strummed folk-rock guitars, surging instrumental interaction and a bright, buoyant blend of voices that reflects the band members' family-style camaraderie, evoking a timeless pop ideal that's as affecting emotionally as it is pleasing to the ear.

Who Will Guard the Gaurdians: The Faceless Gaze

WHO WILL GUARD THE GUARDIANS? is a four-part series hosted by the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in conjunction with its Main Gallery exhibition, Panopticon: Visibility, Data, and the Monitoring Gaze.

Three lecturers will discuss various aspects of panopticism, from its underlying history to how we exist under it today. The final series installation is a screening of the 1985 science fiction film, Brazil.

This series is open to the public. Suggested $5 donation.

THE FACELESS GAZE: THE PHILOSOPHY OF PANOPTICISM

Shannon M. Mussett, Professor of Philosophy, UVU French philosopher, Michel Foucault, made the theory of panopticism famous in his book, Discipline and Punish. In order to understand what it means to live under the panoptic gaze, Shannon will explore the historical shift from societies once based in extravagant spectacles of royal power, to one such as our own, centered in forced normalization, disciplinary training, and extreme visibility.

Pride is based on a true story about London-based gay and lesbian activists who decide to raise money to support coal miners and their families during the British miners strike in 1984. When the National Union of Mineworkers seems embarrassed to receive their support, the activists decide to go directly to the miners and travel to a mining village deep in Wales to give their support in person.

Acupressure for Allergies

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is conceptually related to liver and gallbladder energy. These specific energy meridians focus on moving the flow of energy through your body and releasing it from energetic interference and stagnation. Spring tends to agitate people dealing with allergies, asthma, anxiety or depression, joint pain and weight gain, but it can also be the perfect time to clean, renew and prepare your body for a healthy and balanced year. Meg Myers

Meg Myers is an American vocalist and songwriter produced by Doctor Rosen Rosen. Originally from Tennessee's Smoky Mountains, she now lives in Los Angeles. She is a former Jehovah's Witness.

Her debut EP, Daughter In The Choir, is available on iTunes and for free download from her website, www.meginthedark.com. Her song "Adelaide," a ballad about domestic abuse, was featured on Last Call with Carson Daly and "Curbstomp" which was synched in an episode of CSI:NY is also included on the compilation album "New Music Seminar - Artist On the Verge 2012, Vol. 1". In 2012 she played a residency at The Bootleg in Los Angeles and two shows at The Viper Room as well as a sold out show with JMSN at The Troubadour. Entertainment Weekly called her "everything we want in a singer-angry, damaged, and supremely talented." While a review in music industry trade hitsdailydouble.com described her as "still a little raw around the edges, but if she can manage to harness that power, Meg Myers has the kind of fierce presence that evokes the likes of femme fatales such as Fiona Apple, Patti Smith, Cat Power, Alanis Morrissette and Sinead O'Connor, and that's some pretty impressive company."
