Recent presidential candidate and former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. and his wife Mary Kaye spoke on rights for Utah's LGBT communities at the 2012 Equality Utah Allies Dinner, held at the Salt Palace Grand Ballroom on Sept. 27. The evening helped recognize the accomplishments of advocates for LGBT rights and promoted equal protections for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The event kicked off with an exclusive reception for Equality Utah's Capitol Club members, followed by a general reception and dinner. Honorees included artist Trevor Southey, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays and LBGT rights advocates Reverend Theresa Novak and Anne Spatola. Along with the Huntsmans, Idaho Senator Nicole LeFavour, who is known as a champion of equal rights, gave a keynote speech. This year's co-Chairs of the sold out event were Craig Williams-Crawford and Robyn Martinez. An after party was held at Club Elevate.
