Head Start, a program that assists in early childhood development for children from low-income families, was proud to present the Bloom Gala on Aug. 24 at the Salt Lake Country Club. The gala began at 5:30 p.m. with artisan beer tasting, a putting contest and a silent auction, and there was dinner and a live auction later on in the evening. The money raised from this year's event will be used to improve curriculum and staff, starting a dual immersion program, researching the benefits of parental involvement, expanding the food service program which provides 1,000 dinners per day during the summer months and toward a four-year scholarship for a former Head Start student to attend the University of Utah.
