Heroes Among Us

Real Salt Lake takes a moment before each home game to honor local heroes in a program called "Heroes Among Us." At the game against the Colorado Rapids on April 7, the team recognized Gage Thompson, a four-year-old boy who has had two brain tumors. Thompson, a big fan of firemen, was made an honorary member of local fire crew Ladder 104, who were honored in the ceremony. The team created a jersey for the firemen with 104 as the number. The pre-game also featured Rogue Cavaliers Brigade member Lenny Foster carrying the Rocky Mountain Cup onto the filed, a presentation by the Utah National Guard and National Anthem by BYU's nine-man a cappella ensemble Vocal Point. Real Salt Lake went on to beat Colorado, 2–0. American Express also sponsors Heroes Among Us.
