2011 Hof Winterfest

Ogden celebrated the German Hof Winterfest with representatives from sister-city Hof, Germany at the Golden Spike Event Center from Jan. 14–15. More than 3,000 people filled the event center, which former Ogden mayor Scott Sneddon asked to host shortly before he passed away in 2005. More vendors filled the center this year, and new breads and pasteries were introduced like fresh-baked apple strudel. Guests also enjoyed crafts, beer and more traditional German foods. Salzburger Echo entertained with authentic alphorns, world-renowned yodeler Kerry Christensen performed and the Minimax band were flown in from Hof. The WSU Institute Folk Dancers also performed for the crowd. Next year's festival is already scheduled for Jan. 20–21.
