The McCarthey family presented the MS Dinner of Champions, the gala event for the National MS Society Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter to honor inspirational athletic and community leaders, at La Caille Restaurant on Sept. 14. Bill Marcroft, who was the voice of the Utah Utes for nearly 40 years, and Philip G. McCarthey, a longtime supporter of the society, emceed the evening. The evening also brought in more than $120,000 for local services and programs for people with multiple sclerosis and to fund multiple sclerosis research. The disease affects the central nervous system, stopping the flow of information from the brain to the body and limiting movement. MS affects one in 300 Utahns.
