Salt Lake magazine had a front-row spot at a Sundance Film Festival's opening press conference at the Egyptian Theatre on Jan. 20. Guests fielded questions to festival director John Cooper, Sundance Institute Executive Director Keri Putnam and actor/festival founder Robert Redford, who discussed the origins of the festival, its current state and touched on the commercial aspects of the festival and the 2011 films.
