SHEROES Salute

SHEROES United, which promotes the voices of courageous women (aka SHEROES), honored military women at the SHEROES Salute at One Nightclub on Nov. 9. The U of U ROTC conducted an honor guard presentation and an awards ceremony was held for veterans and active military. Guests also enjoyed live music by singers Wendy Nelson, who sang along with a projecttroops.org live tribute, and Tamra Lynn Smith. Another highlight was WWII veteran Ora Mae Hyatt and her husband telling their story with author and storyteller Bridget Cook.
This year's honorees: US Army 2nd Lieutenant in WWII Ora Mae Hyatt; US Air Force Master Sergeant Candice Dawn James; US Army First Lieutenant Donna McAleer; Utah National Guard, Coast Guard and Navy Sergeant First Class Mary Christensen; Utah National Guard Staff Sergeant Hayley Breck; US Army Reserve Sergeant First Class Michelle Ajeel; Utah National Guard Staff Sergeant Jessica Hyde; Utah National Guard Captain Jaime R. Thomas; Arizona National Guard Sergeant Rachel L. Kirby and US National Guard Sergeant and veteran Diana Davie.
