Young Benefactors Acquisition Dinner

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts honored its Young Benefactors, high-level donors who support modern and contemporary art at the museum, at a black-tie affair on Nov. 2. Each year at the event, Young Benefactors vote to acquire one of three art pieces to be added to the museum's permanent collection. This year's winning piece is a sculpture titled, "* |_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_," by Los Angeles-based artist Jedediah Caeser. Along with voting on the nominees, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, sit-down dinner and live jazz music. UMFA Executive Director Gretchen Dietrich, Young Benefactors Executive Committee Chair John Sproul and UMFA Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Whitney Tassie gave the evening's keynote speeches. The night's guest of honor was artist Jann Haworth, whose soft sculpture, “The White Charm Bracelet,” was chosen as the 2011 Young Benefactors acquisition.
