YWCA Utah raised over $90,000 at its 25th anniversary LeaderLuncheon, honoring remarkable women in the community, at the Grand America Hotel on Sept. 27. Outstanding Achievement Awards were given to co-owner of The King's English Bookshop Betsy Burton, Rep. Rebecca Chavez-Houck, University of Utah MD Harriet Hopf, softball coach Kathy Christine Howa, University of Utah professor Pam Perlich and Deb Sawyer of the Gandhi Alliance for Peace. Local philanthropist Mary Schubach McCarthey received the YWCA Heart and Soul Award. Along with an awards ceremony, the evening featured a keynote speech by Anita Hill, who was the subject of the recent Sundance Film Festival documentary Anita.
