Okay, ladies and gents, don’t waste another weekend Netflix and chilling. I’m always down for an evening of Netflix but we can’t be vampires every weekend. Come on, it’ll be fun. If you’re looking to leave the house for a fun weekend, something to break your routine or just trying to find something new, this one’s for you.
Calling all thrill seekers, BMX fans and riders, skaters, and anyone afraid to watch but unable to look away. Nitro World Games is back to blow your minds and make the impossible a reality on Saturday, June 24 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. They will crown world champions in some of the most exciting disciplines of action sports: FMX, BMX, Skate, Inline and Scooter. It’s gonna be a wild ride, ya’ll.

Vans Warped Tour
If death-defying stunts and stunning crashes aren’t your thing, check out the music scene happening on the same day at the Utah State Fairpark. From alternative to screamo, you can get your fill of music, food, and merch at this once-a-year event. Just make sure you listen to your mother and wear your sunscreen and drink a lot of water. It’s gonna be hot.
Sunday, July 25 is a little more low-key to match the don’t-want-tomorrow-to-be-Monday-again blues. But you can still make the most of your last weekend day by checking out Strawberry Girls at the Loading Dock. They’re an experimental rock trio (whatever that means) out of Salinas. If you’re looking for something new or different (they’re not girls, for instance), check them out.
SmithTix for tickets at $12, 7 p.m., (with special guest Belle Noire). You can get plenty of bed time before the dreaded early Monday shift.
If you’re a little leery of experimental rock, mosey on over to the Urban Lounge for Reeve Carney. He’s been cast as Riff Raff on the FOX remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show and was pretty boy Dorian Gray on the smash TV series Penny Dreadful. Whatever he’ll be doing on stage, he’ll be lovely to look at.
The event starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15 are available at the Urban Lounge website, but no kiddies under 21.
Vikings: Beyond the Legend
A good, educational field trip for anyone interested in the hardy Vikings. Tickets run from $7.95 to $12.95, and the exhibit will run through January 1, 2018. Might as well visit the rest of the Natural History Museum while you’re there as well. Visit their website for more information.
