Get ready to embrace some old school flair and fun. One of Salt Lake City’s newest additions on the bar scene is Avant Groove Jazz Club and Martini Bar. Harkening us back to the 1950s and 60s, Avant Groove’s owner John Vecchi creates a distinctly old school feel through the bar’s decor and ambiance. The house band, Elastic, which features Vecchi, “blends and eclectic mix of straight-ahead and modern jazz by artists including John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Handcock, Joshua Redman, Kenny Burrell, Roy Hargrove, Wes Montgomery, John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, and the timeless vocals of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.”
Though Avant Groove has already been open for a couple weeks, they’re hosting an official Grand Opening this Friday, September 8th, from 7pm to 12am with live music beginning at 8. Make sure to stop by early to grab a seat and a cocktail so you’re more than ready for the music and festivities to start.
