Bear River's Endangered Wonder

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, Brigham City, Utah

A new film celebrates one of Utah’s natural icons. No, not another national park. This time it’s an homage to the federal Bear River Wildlife Sanctuary.

The film is part of a national U.S. Fish and Wildlife campaign to promote U.S. wildlife refuges. Few people, outside of hunters and birders, know about these gems, many of which are hidden in plain site of major metro areas.

The Bear River Migratory Bird Sanctuary, with its 80,000 acres of marsh, open water and mudflats west of Brigham City, is one of them.

It’s also an important part of the Great Salt Lake ecosystem that is threatened by a dam project to water the lawns of the Wasatch Front.

The sumptuous film was produced by the National Wildlife Refuge Association and Tandem Stills + Motion.
