Over 200 furry feline friends from nine different shelters and rescue groups across the state are ready to find a home.
Best Friends Animal Society of Utah hosts the Cat Days of Summer event, in hopes for people to adopt in the height of “kitten season”-a time when shelters and rescue groups are overwhelmed by the number of kittens that come during summer months.
Every cat at the event is able to be adopted. Adoption fees start at just $10, and include spay/neuter, vaccinations and an Instapet gift bag. Perfect for a post-adoption Instagram pic, the gift bag includes a selfie stick, bubbles and a handmade cat toy by Kids4Pets.
Despite it being an adoption event, each individual shelter/group has their own adoption process. While some may allow same-day adoption, some may require home checks as part of the application process.
If you’re interested in adopting a cat from this event, be sure to bring a valid form of identification and payment, as well as a letter from a landlord if you’re a renter stating you can have a pet.
Cat Days of Summer Event will be held Saturday, August 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Gateway, 90 S. Rio Grande St., across Rio Grande from Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum. Admission is free.
