Concert Preview: TajMo at Red Butte

The blues are a funny thing. You either got ’em or you don’t. And it two people who, despite their generation-gap, got ’em are the blues legend Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’, a much younger, but much acclaimed modern blues musician.

The two have joined forces for a long awaited collaborative project they’re calling TajMo and will make a stop at Red Butte on Sunday night—in support of the project’s studio album.

Both men, accomplished in their own rights, have made a career out of the fusion of blues with Caribbean and afro-beats, a theme that carries through on the album and in the live show they’ve created together.

The album took them two and a half years to create, and during which—according to both men—a friendship grew. Expect to see that play out on stage Sunday—the second stop on their summer tour.

The show is sold out, but as always, you may have luck with the scalpers on the hill on the way to Red Butte.

Sunday June 4. Black Pacific opens, doors open at 6, the show starts at 7.
