2018 Salt Lake City St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Gallivan Center
239 South Main Street
2018 will mark the 40th anniversary of the Salt Lake City St. Patrick’s Day Parade which means we’re planning an unforgettable celebration.
New this year, the parade route will run down 300 South from 500 East to the Gallivan Center instead of running through The Gateway. Our parade after-party, commonly referred to as the Siamsa (sheem-sa) will be held at the Gallivan Center.
This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of the very first St. Patrick’s Day parade in Salt Lake City. If you were lucky enough to be present that fateful day, then you will fondly recall the enthusiasm & pride of the crowd as well as the parade participants and the opportunity we had to share and relish in our Irish heritage with the state of Utah. When the parade rounded the corner of South Temple and Main Street, the streets were filled with brightly decorated floats, families of Irish descent as well as native-born Irish with tears in their eyes from the overwhelming spectacle before them. This year we challenge parade applicants to embrace this year’s theme as well as recall that very first parade & the light-heartedness of our Irish heritage.
