Description
Arkansas' Adam Faucett and William Blackart play The Heavy Metal Shop Saturday, May 4 at 6 p.m. Both songwriters are on tour in support of new records, with Faucett's 'It Took the Shape of a Bird' being named to Pop Matters' 'Top 20 Americana Albums of 2018,' while American Songwriter described the release as a collection of 'darkly poetic meanderings delivered with a voice at once tender and sulfurous.'
Faucett has been on the road nonstop since the release of his solo debut in 2007, continually evolving a sound the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette described as 'part folk, part blues, part elemental rock stomp, part unidentifiable cosmic holler.' During that time he has played with a diverse array of artists ranging from Dead Meadow to Swingin' Utters to Ray Wylie Hubbard, and provided international and national tour support for Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), King Buzzo (Melvins), Pallbearer and The Bottle Rockets.
This time through Faucett will play solo, but electric, lending his set more of the full band feel--Slow'n Loud, as he puts it.
Fellow Arkansan William Blackart is on the road with Faucett and will open the evening. Blackart plays a lo-fi country brand of folk music with lyrics described as 'poetic and captivating,' vocals pegged as 'rough and emotive' and guitar work called 'hypnotic and spare' (Dakota Discography).
Blackart also released a new record in the fall. 'Return,' a collaboration with Faucett, was called 'a showcase for Blackart's powerful, rough-hewn poetry and spare, country-folk meditations' by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
