Description
Join in for a fun-filled night of weird & wild Science Fiction Writing at the Clark Planetarium with Craft Lake City and the Community Writing Center! In this interdisciplinary writing workshop, we’ll explore how to intersect real-world scientific knowledge with our wildest imagination to create a compelling and immersive Sci Fi world with the help of Kati Lewis (Community Writing Center Director & Imaginative Writing Professor) and Adam Dastrup (Geoscience & Geography Professor). Craft Lake City will lead participants through the construction of a DIY glow-doodle journal, then our guest speakers will walk us through the process of using Earth’s own amazing science to spin believable, immersive fiction. Attendees will fill their keepsake glow-in-the-dark journals with creative Sci Fi stories (using prompts from our instructors to explore different approaches to world-building). As a bonus, participants will each receive a mini UV glow light to activate their phosphorescent journal!
