Every four years, the world’s most promising pianists convene in Salt Lake City for the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition to compete for prestige, cash, and prizes. The 2018 Competition returns this summer from June 10^th through 23^rd, marking 42 years of Bachauer Competitions inviting the world’s most elite pianists to Utah.

Chosen from 216 applicants through a worldwide screening process, 40 international pianists ages 19-32, representing 17 countries, will compete in Salt Lake City for more than $105,000 US in prizes. These pianists represent the most diverse group ever assembled for a Bachauer competition. 

40 pianists will each perform two solo recitals in Quarterfinal Rounds I and II. Twelve pianists will then be chosen to compete in the Semifinal Round. Three pianists will then be chosen to continue the medal quest, and invited to perform in the Final Round, each performing twice with the Utah Symphony in two evenings of concerto performances.
