Description
The award-winning journalist, Kurt Repanshek, will present 'Re-Bisoning the West: Restoring an American Icon to the Landscape' at the Natural History Museum of Utah on the final day of the Yellowstone: Invisible Boundaries special exhibition.
Millions of majestic bison once roamed territory stretching from Alaska to Mexico, playing a crucial role in maintaining the health of a vast ecosystem and sustaining certain Native American communities. Following the near extinction of these iconic animals, measures are now being taken to revitalize their populations around the country. With a forward-thinking approach, Repanshek explores these and many other facets of bison in his book, 'Re-Bisoning the West: Restoring an American Icon to the Landscape.'
Repanshek traces the history of bison from their Ice Age ancestors to present-day endeavors to bring them back to the landscape—and the biological, political, and cultural hurdles confronting these efforts. Hear more about his research and book at this special presentation at the Museum and see Yellowstone: Invisible Boundaries before it closes September 15.
Autographed copies of 'Re-Bisoning the West' will be available for sale at the lecture.
This event is included with Museum admission and free for Museum Members and University of Utah faculty, staff, and students.
