Description
It is summer time, which means Farmers Market season! Join us at the VA Farmers Market, Wednesdays, 11 am – 1:30 pm, August 3 – September 7, 2022, for a fun and tasty opportunity to gather with your local community Veterans. At the VA Farmer’s Market, you can find fresh, locally grown vegetables and fruits, participate in food tasting for healthy recipes, have the chance to join in on a fun workout, enjoy food from local food trucks, and a be immersed in a relaxing atmosphere while musicians share their talents with live music.
This year the VA Farmer’s Market will be addressing Food Insecurity at the Produce Stand to benefit Veterans (or other eligible participants) by partnering with SNAP, Double Up Utah, and Produce Rx. These partnerships allow SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits to be accepted by local vendors, provides double the fresh produce when using SNAP dollars, and allows Veterans (and others) to buy fresh produce with Produce Rx vouchers. Below you will find additional information on each program.
Double Up Utah: Utah’s statewide healthy food incentive program, Double Up Food Bucks, is now available at the VA Farmer’s Market, in addition to more than 20 other farmers markets around the state. Double Up Food Bucks increases purchasing power for fruits and vegetables of individual’s qualifying for SNAP while supporting Utah growers.
Produce Rx: For Veterans (or others) participating in the Produce Prescription program, Produce vouchers can be used to purchase $20 worth of Produce at the VA Farmers Market or other participating farmers markets.
Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program: Veterans (and others) age 60 years and older, who meet income requirements, can receive a coupon book worth $50 in free produce at the VA Farmers Market.
