Well Beings and PBS Utah will stream a live virtual panel featuring local experts and youth titled “Utah’s Refugee Youth and Mental Health: A Welcome Exploration” on Tuesday, February 16th at 7:00 PM MT. Event Partner, Mental Healthy F.I.T., has worked with 4 refugee youth to explore their mental health through art during a workshop and has created a short documentary surrounding their mental health journey through art therapy.
An open online workshop was presented in early December covering mental health awareness, expressive arts, storytelling and communication. Participants learned to use images and symbols to tell their stories in order to discover new pathways to communication, wellness and transformation. 4 students went on to fully realize their creativity while their stories were documented for this event.
Join refugee youth, Mental Healthy F.I.T. and PBS Utah to watch the journey as part of a live streamed virtual event. A discussion about mental health, art, and healing, moderated by Dawood Saleh, will follow.
