Fringe Festival: Rapid-fire Performance Art in Sugarhouse

In the spirit of the renown Edinburgh Festival Fringe that annually launches a spectrum of several thousand edgy and avant-guard performances, a group of Salt Lake actors, writers and directors launched their own Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival in 2015.

It’s back this year with more than 200 performances of all sorts, performed by individuals and theater companies.  Most of them are short, so you’ll probably survive even the most pretentious productions.

And it’s an opportunity for audiences to move the needle in the Salt Lake performance scene. The performances are edgy, funny, disquieting, life changing, just awful and probably not for kids. So go at your own risk. Or join the more innocent set at  Kids’ Fringe.

Because it’s impossible to list the performances, we recommend you puruse the Fringe online schedule.

The performances run from Thursday to Saturday.
The Fringe takes place at two performance spaces in Sugar House:
The Fringe Factory (old Desert Industries building) 2223 Highland Dr.
Westminster College’s Jewett Center for the Performing Arts 1840 S. 1300 East

All the money from ticket sales goes directly to the artists.
