It’s September and, while fall is still few weeks away, you’re officially allowed to start filling your house with pumpkin spice everything and countdown the days until all the local Spirit Halloween shops finally open. But if you’re like me and heed the advice of John Oliver when it comes to pumpkin spice, there are still plenty of ways to start enjoying a good scare before October.

Want to get pursued by a serial killer? Or what about a zombie on a chain? While these might seem like poor suggestions for a fun night out with friends, the folks over at Great Room Escape in Layton really know what they’re doing. Are you a fan of the Walking Dead? Then you need to try out their Zombie Room. You and up to 11 friends get locked in a room with a zombie on a chain and try to solve clues to get out before your hour is up. The catch? Every 5 minutes the chain gets a little longer…

If zombies aren’t your speed, there also the Cabin Room for you Joss Whedon fans out there who want an authentic Cabin in the Woods experience. Trapped in a room with a kidnap victim, you and 7 friends need to solve the clues to get out of the house with the victim before the serial killer comes back. It just turns out that you’re also trapped in his little game.

But if horror just isn’t your style, there’s also the Houdini Room, where you and 7 friends must help Houdini’s widow, Bess, make contact with her dearly departed husband one last time. Whichever of these most appeals to you, Great Room Escape knows how to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Co-owner Greg Andersen has over 20 years of experience in the Haunted Attractions business and averages $50,000 designing each of the escape rooms for a truly immersive event for you and your fellow sleuths.

We want to give you all the same experience and so we’ve partnered with Great Room Escape to giveaway TWO pairs of free tickets to any of their three live-action escape rooms.

Simply sign up for our newsletter on our homepage sidebar to be entered to win! Two winners will be chosen at random on Friday, September 8th and will either have the tickets mailed to them or they can stop by our SLC office to pick them up. Please bring ID to claim your prize.
