Green Day Preview

Dust off your old punk rock outfits you kept for nostalgia’s sake. Get some temporary dye for Mohawks reborn. Green Day is coming to Utah. A day I never thought would happen.

It’s a day for pulling out your punk rock side you thought was dead and buried. A day for a little anarchy to rebel against societal norms. Green Day is back on a world tour with their newest album Revolution Radio. The album showcases some of America’s culture mixed with the narcissism of social media. Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong feels that the album shows how people surveil themselves because incidents of society’s rage are now being recorded by everyone.

With hit albums like American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day has become one of the biggest bands in punk rock and pop punk. Green Day began a revolution with their breakout album Dookie, crediting them as one of the punk bands that popularized and revived mainstream interest in punk rock in the US, especially in the younger generations.

Green Day is playing at the Usana Amphitheater on Monday, August 7. The show starts at 7 pm, tickets are still available here.
