“I’m Bender, baby, please insert liquor!”
If you’re anything like Bender from the iconic show Futurama, then you love booze and you love beer. Do Bender proud and help SLUG magazine commemorate their 10th Annual Local Beer Issue with a craft beer festival called SLUG Mag on Tap, featuring 100 percent Utah-brewed beer. It’s not free because the good things in life rarely are, but a portion of the proceeds from the festival go directly to the Utah Brewers’ Guild to keep making the good drink.
Slug Mag on Tap is happening on Saturday, July 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Gateway. There’s a full day’s entertainment with local bands, DJs, yard games and mini competitions for the participants. Rio Grande Street will be lined with more than 20 local craft brew vendors, so you’ll never be thirsty. Plus, local food truck favorites will be there in case anyone gets a raging case of the munchies.
Because let’s be honest, there’s probably going to be more than “just” beer.
Presale tickets for the drinkers are available for sale on 24tix.com for $20. Tickets will also be available on the day of or at the gate for $25. Each ticket includes three sample tokens and a full-sized commemorative mug. Additional sample tokens will be available onsite for $1.50 each.
There will be two pour sizes available: a taster at four ounces and a full-size taster at 12 ounces. Low-point tasters are one token, and full-sized low-point tasters will be three tokens. High-point tasters will be 2-3 tokens each depending on the brews.
In support of the statewide No Fatalities road campaign, Slug Mag on Tap is issuing “Designated Driver” tickets at a discounted price of $5 to encourage safe drinking. Red Bull will also be serving up exclusive mocktails free of charge with their new, limited edition summer flavors.
Go forth, eat, drink, and be merry. Or run in whooping like Fry, also from Futurama: “Bring on the beer! And the scantily-clad barmaids! And the more beer!”
May your beer never run dry.
