Acts of class are coming to jazz up the little city of Logan, Utah in the form of the Utah Festival of Opera and Musical Theatre. Celebrating 25 glorious seasons, the festival is hosting six classic performances featuring a full orchestra and stars from both Broadway and the Met.
This fabulous season runs from June 23 to July 9, presenting the shows Rex, Seussical, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Music Man, The Pirates of Penzance, and Madama Butterfly.
Rex
Follow the life and loves of the malevolent King Henry VIII, and his decapitating obsession for producing a male heir. Dates and tickets here.
Seussical
Follow the story of Horton the Elephant who discovers the whole new world of the Whos in a speck of dust. Watch as he takes on his self-given duty of protecting the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers. Dates and tickets here.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Join the hunchbacked Quasimodo in this retelling of the classic story by Victor Hugo. With songs from the Disney animated masterpiece, watch an epic story of love, acceptance, and what it means to be a true hero. Dates and tickets here.
The Music Man
They call him a “traveling” con man, but he’s really running from town to town to avoid trouble. Harold Hill arrives in River City to sell marching band uniforms and instruments to unsuspecting idiots. He’s always up to no good, but can he face the music when it calls? Dates and tickets here.
The Pirates of Penzance
Help celebrate Frederic’s coming-of-age, pirate style! There’s only one little problem… Frederic doesn’t really want to be a pirate. Instead, he wants a beautiful maiden to have and to hold, better than any treasure his former pirate comrades can give him. Dates and tickets here.
Madama Butterfly
A young Japanese geisha is certain that her arranged marriage with a visiting American naval officer will be a permanent arrangement. Watch a classic tale with cultural and martial imperialism themes, and the tragic consequences of dash hopes and rending heartbreak. Dates and tickets here.
Rex and Seussical will take place at the Utah Theatre at 18 West Center Street in Logan.
