Pago Restaurant Group announces two October events for wine aficionados

Expand your wine palate with two October events hosted by Finca and Pago. On Saturday, October 29 at 7 p.m., Finca will be hosting winemaker Luisa Vieira de Sousa Borges and her award-winning port wine. For $45, participants are invited to a night of rich flavor with unique wines and food pairings.

Port, most commonly known as an after-dinner wine, has evolved into a unique beverage with many variations. Today, port is served with dinner, dessert and even as a before-dinner cocktail with a splash of tonic. From the Duoro Valley in Northern Portugal, Vieira de Sousa’s port is known for its rich fruity and chocolatey notes, winning Vieira both the Decanter World Wine Awards Silver Medal and the Concours Mondial Silver Medal in 2012.

For even more vino, this time with a festive twist, Pago is holding their Pumpkin Tasting Menu with Orange Wines (yes, you read that correctly). These unusual wines are made with white grapes that are soaked in their own skin, producing a wine dark orange in color that are richer in flavor than many other white wines.


With an emphasis on seasonal eats, Pago Chef Curtis Lindley uses seasonal pumpkin with intricate recipes to create high-class pairings made out of the humble squash. The event runs from Friday, October 28 through October 31 during dinner hours and reservations are recommended.

The Pago Restaurant Group consists of many Salt Lake staples, including Finca, Pago, East Liberty Tap House, Hub & Spoke Diner and Trestle Tavern. November will feature two more events by the group with Thanksgiving Day menus at Hub & Spoke Diner and Finca, offering families a no-stress dining opportunity for parties of all sizes.

The Finca + Vieira de Sousa Port Winemaking Dinner with winemaker Luisa Vieira de Sousa Borges will be held Saturday, October 29 at 7 p.m. at Finca, located at 327 West 200 South, Salt Lake City. Buy tickets here.
