Salt Lake City Winter Cocktails: Trestle Tavern

If you haven’t been into the new Trestle Tavern, owned by Pago Group and restaurateur extraordinaire Scott Evans, you’re missing out on some great Eastern European food. But that’s not all…

Trestle Tavern just launched its new winter cocktail menu, and the libations are sure to keep your belly warm this chilly winter season. With classics like the Scofflaw and the Market Mule, as well as warm cocktails like the Svarak (mulled wine), all of the cocktails on the menu fill an important role on the imbiber’s repertoire — and perfectly compliment a great menu comprised of some of my favorite comfort foods.

One of my favorite cocktails on the menu is the 3 Dots & A Dash, and was created by Scott himself. With local Dented Brick Antelope Island Rum, Bacardi 8 Year, Velvet Falermun, Allspice, and lime, you’ll enjoy a full-bodied and very balanced cocktail that sips easy with dinner.

The Trestle Toddy also tops my list, which is an incredible play on a tasty classic cocktail called The Last Word. Served warm, this mix of bourbon, Green Chartreuse, Luxardo, lime, and honey is an outstanding toddy, sure to keep you toasty from your fingers to your toes. I hadn’t thought of turning The Last Word into a warm cocktail, but it is truly lovely how wonderful this beverage tastes in its new winter presentation.

To add to the menu, you’ll find a wonderful Market Mule — made with seasonal fruit and the classic ginger flare as well a traditional Scofflaw created with rye, dry vermouth, lemon, and grenadine. Also making the list is a truly beautiful Svarak — mulled with red wine, orange curacao, brandy, Allspice, and housemade spice syrup. I feel warm in my chest just thinking of it!

So, put Trestle Tavern on your list of quaint, beautiful spaces to get a seasonal cocktail. Between the perogies and the cocktail menu, you can’t go wrong this winter.
