Just two weeks ago Pioneer Park hosted its last Saturday Farmer’s Market of the season. To many it was a reminder that summer has come to a close and the colorful displays of fresh produce will not be around until next year. To fill that hole — and to provide more of the delicious fruits and veggies you love — The Winter Market is just around the corner. Returning to downtown Salt Lake City on Saturday, November 5, The Winter Market will host over 60 local vendors, selling winter vegetables, crafts, baked goods and more. The market begins at 10 a.m. on alternating Saturdays at the Rio Grande Depot.
This year’s autumnal crops have been particularly favorable to local farmers, providing an abundant selection of produce, including squash, onions, potatoes, carrots, beets and several varieties of greens. Shop locally for your favorite winter meal or your family’s Thanksgiving dinner. This year the market will have fresh locally-raised turkey available to purchase on site. Grass-fed meats, specialty cheeses, wild and sustainable seafood, honey, jam, salsa and more will make this winter warm, delicious and healthy. And for those with a bit of a sweet tooth, many vendors will be present with a vast selection of baked goods.
For an experience — and many products — you can’t find anywhere else, The Winter Market is the perfect Saturday pick-me-up. With its historic location at the Rio Grande Depot, the market is able to introduce the public to many of their programs created for the community. Overseen by the Utah Department of Heritage and Arts, these programs include the Rio Gallery and The Utah Division of State History.
