Men’s Spring/Summer 2018 Fashion Trends
The three looks you need to master this season.
Spring in Utah is a sartorial rollercoaster: one minute we have sunshine and the next it’s the dreaded late season snow. Somewhere between the runway and the classics is your style, striking the perfect balance between couture and comfortable. We’ve done the sorting so you don’t have to concern yourself with the messiness. Here are the looks to master this season.
Lightweight and Breathable
A key to staying comfortable is knowing what materials your outfits are made of. For weight and breathability, we highly recommend wool. Most gentlemen are reaching for something cotton or linen, which can definitely do the job; however, wool evaporates and absorbs moisture more effectively than other textiles. So, on a hot day, wool will keep you cool and fresh.
Now that you’re in the know, we’ll move on to which wool is right. Lightweight is key, meaning it’s woven less densely than cotton and unlined (referring to the jacket structure).
A few more great features about wool are that it won’t hold wrinkles, sweat or odors which are common with other summer fabrics. This translates to less dry cleaning and more time making memories.
Colors
The color of the year is PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet which communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us towards the future. We highly suggest adding it to your 2018 wardrobe. You can rock it subtly through accessories such as neckwear, socks, pocket squares and/or cufflinks (for the discerning gentleman).
Iconically masculine colors are typically grey and blue, however, try out some neutrals and even dare to add pastel as the weather warms such as egg shell yellow or even coral.
Shoes
When it comes to getting dressed, one item to make or break an outfit is shoes, regardless of the season. We’ve got the breakdown of save vs splurge buys covered.
Splurge: Black lace-up oxfords with unique laces from Stolen Riches will let everyone know you’re taking care of business. We recommend avoiding the square toe option.
Splurge: Brown lace-up oxfords with unique laces from Stolen Riches and blue socks to create a bold, unique contrast. A brogue or cap toe will do quite nicely.
Save: A textured loafer (suede, embroidered, spikes) are perfect for those Spring and Summer weddings invites… You know they’re coming!
Final note, if you work in an office where you are required to wear a suit, be sure to keep it a bit more conservative and embrace your own Spring-styling.
