Prepare for the takeover.
Main Street is about to be inundated with hundreds of artists, thousands of paintings, photographs and sculptures, scores of musicians and a host of tents featuring activities and indulgences for the whole family. Wait. That doesn’t sound so bad. I, for one, welcome our new artistic overlords as the famous Kimball Arts Festival comes to Park City for the 47th year running.
This year’s festival features work from more than 200 renowned artists, representing 30 different states. The Kimball Arts Festival’s intensive jury selection process — detailed in our magazine last year — ensures attendees are treated to the best of the best in a variety of mediums including ceramics, fiber art, sculpture, photography, printmaking, wood, drawing, painting and more.
Attendees will have plenty to do beyond perusing the selections and padding their personal art collections with 30 live concerts on multiple stages throughout Main Street, a kids’ activity area for the younger set, and “The Festival After Dark” and “Taste of Art” — a partnership between the resorts and restaurants to offer dining, film screenings and live entertainment — for those of a more advanced age.
The Kimball Arts Festival runs from Friday August 12th through Sunday August 14th. Weekend passes are $12 for adults, $5 for children/students 6-17, and free for those 5 and under. Friday night is Locals’ Night, which is free to all Summit County residents with a valid ID.
Friday, August 12th: 5pm -9pm
Saturday, August 13th: 9am-7pm
Sunday, August 14th: 9am-6pm
