Transforming Together: Strengthening police-community relations

On Thursday, July 21, the Salt Lake City Police Chief, Mike Brown and the Salt Lake City Mayor, Jackie Biskupski will be hosting “Transforming Together,” a guided dialogue aiming to improve the relationship between police officers and community members.

Topics for the night will include deescalation training, the department’s use-of-force policy, the role of the Civilian Review Board and the training and hiring of police officers. Feedback is welcomed so members of the public are encouraged to come and participate.

Information about the Salt Lake City Human Rights Commission and the Community Advisory Board will be available.

Community Action Group, a coalition of community members representing the ACLU, NAACP, Black Lives Matter, Community Coalition for Police Reform and Cop Watch SLC, has been a co-organizer on this event.

The event will be held at the Sorenson Utility Center, located at 1383 S 900 W. Registration begins at 5 p.m. with the program running until 8 p.m.
