UMOCA's 2017 GALA AND ART AUCTION

Set the night on fire with art.

This years Utah Museum of Contemporary Art’s (UMOCA) Gala, SIDESHOW, will be a fiery evening filled with a tempting menu, outlandish cocktails, alluring entertainment and curious procurements. The UMOCA Gala is always one of the most elaborate and unique parties of the year. And this year is anything but simple. You definitely can’t go wrong when circus acts are on the program—daring acts filled with daredevil-worthy feats match the inspiration UMOCA has towards inspiring Salt Lake with art and showing the city that nothing is impossible.

The Gala will take place on June 3 within the Promontory Building at the Utah State Fairpark—cocktails begin at 6 pm and dinner is served at 7pm. May your attire be just as artsy as the works on the wall.Come dressed in your most fabulous red, black or white semi-formal attire with a touch of eccentric, of course.

But the night doesn’t just end as an observer of art. You have the opportunity to bid on pieces from local, national and international artist for the opportunity to take home and enjoy the contemporary for work beyond the evening’s festivities. The majority of UMOCA’s art auction works are by local artists, some having participated in our Artist-In-Residence program. Those who are not local, are artists who have had their work exhibited at UMOCA. Bidding on the artwork begins May 12, and is open to anyone! Start bidding on May 12 at 501auctions.com/sideshow17.

By participating in this event, you are making contemporary art and art education accessible to a diverse, growing audience.

UMOCA strives to support and advance contemporary art and culture in Utah. Since opening in 1931, UMOCA has worked fearlessly to give voice to innovation, experimentation and the open dialogue surrounding current topics.  Sponsorship helps UMOCA develop socially relevant programs—such as the Art Truck which visits over 20,000 school-aged children—so that they may receive vital arts education that is lacking in many schools.
