Utah Olympic Park announces winter sport programs

The Utah Olympic Park will open their winter season with new and returning winter programing for children and teens who dream of being Olympians. Online registration is now available for cross-country skiing, Nordic ski jumping, bobsled, skeleton and ski mountaineering. With programs for every skill level, from beginner to Olympic-ready, the Utah Olympic Park is the perfect destination for chilly fun.

This year’s newcomer, Alpine Skills and Drills, is a program for children ages 8 to 12 who have advanced ski skills and are hoping to further their abilities. If your child is hoping to some day commit to a race program, this is a good first step. The curriculum revolves around building fundamental ski skills, while utilizing the USSA Skills Quest Drills. Skiers will have access to gate and terrain training, small Nordic jumps and skier cross courses.

Winter Explorers, for your mini professional, is designed for intermediate to advanced skiers ages 7 to 10. Multi-ski disciplines will be explored, including Nordic ski jumping, freeskiing, freestyle mogul skiing and alpine ski racing. To start your little-one out in the world of skiing, try Kickers and Gliders. An entry level cross country program, Kickers and Gliders helps children ages 7 to 10 as their love for the mountain begins.

An Olympic experience hard to find elsewhere in the state of Utah, the G-Force Bobsled and Skeleton will be looking for future members. From December 31 to February 11, participants ages 13 to 25 are welcome to athlete recruitment for bobsled and skeleton. Following tryouts, athletes will then be funneled into a driving school or intro skeleton program.

The Utah Olympic Park is one of Utah’s remaining memorials to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Located in Park City, the park features year-round entertainment, training facilities and exhibits.
