About the artist:

Shiya (pronounced “see ya”) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Salt Lake City who explores her cultural identity through ceramics and illustration. Of Taishanese descent, Shiya immigrated to Utah from a rural Chinese county-city with her family of aspiring restaurateurs in the early 2000s, and her work draws on both traditional Chinese and modern Pan-Asian artistic techniques.
