Tap Talks: Cultural Importance of Cider in Northern Spain

Join us at Scion Cider Bar for the latest in our Tap Talk Series. Lucía Sánchez-Gilbert is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Utah State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish Literatures and Cultures from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her research examines 20th and 21st century Latin American and Spanish literature, film, and culture.

Lucía was born and raised in Asturias, Spain – a region famous for its unique dry and tart cider. In this talk, Lucía will discuss the cultural importance of cider in Northern Spain, focusing on its history and its social significance.

Listen & learn as you sip on Asturian & Basque ciders paired with traditional Spanish snacks – olives, almonds, cheese & charcuterie or tinned fish plates.
