The Breakfast Club: 40th Anniversary with the Discographers

In celebration of the Breakfast Club’s 40th anniversary, The Discographers bring their chameleon-like musicianship to all your favorite 1980’s teen movie soundtracks,  to The State Room on Feb. 7, 2025, performed in sync with video.

Expect songs from all the John Hughes teen flicks plus a few other choice films, with artists covered ranging from the obvious Simple Minds to Tears for Fears, Whitney Houston, Oingo Boingo, The Cars, The Go-Gos, Van Halen, Kenny Loggins, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, and the ever popular MORE. Hold those boomboxes up in the air, y’all!

Editor’s Note – I friggin’ love The Breakfast Club soundtrack and by the tone I used with the word “friggin'” you know I am of a certain age and probably from Utah. Correctamundo! I 100 percent saw the movie The Breakfast Club, one of John Hugh’s most understated films, at the Center Theater. The actual Center Theater, which you might know as The Broadway Theater. I own the actual movie poster, the one that was in theaters. And if the keyword in this post was “theater,” I’d be winning Yoast. In junior high theater class, we had to do (for some reason) a “tableaux” as an assignment like we were in Greece or something and I used the movie poster as the design plan to stage my classmates. My parents moved to Woods Cross and that was good because all the kids in Bountiful hated me (me too samsies) but that song “Don’t You Forget About Me” played constantly while I was ripping up the linoleum of that house my dad bought. Anyway. I’ll be there.
