Beauty Bluff: A Tale of Two Products

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times …

I don’t know about y’all but, it always seems to be either feast or famine around here. Either I’m basking in the glory of the well-lit aisles of Sephora or I am picking up a “need” while I am picking up a gallon of milk. The thing is that there are great products and some duds, regardless of price point. Now, let’s go and find them.

Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara ($29.50)

Overcurl is one of my all time favorite mascaras. It looks great if you like a thick lash. It holds a curl—hence the “overcurl.” Best of all? It doesn’t end up riding on the tops of my cheeks by 5:00pm. I HATE smearing mascara. This doesn’t. It is really easy to remove. My lashes are super thin and have very little length to them. You wouldn’t know this when I use this mascara.

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Spider Lash Mascara ($5.99)

A total impulse buy a few weeks ago. The Spider Lash is definitely not a look I am into but, unfortunately, poor impulse control rules my life. I was very surprised at how much I liked this mascara. It does go zero to one clumped up lash in a flash but if you like a thicker lash, you will really like this mascara. I have very few drug store mascaras that I love for the long haul because they smear on me but this one is on until I take it off.

This is a series I am really excited to write. Once a month we will have a look at some products for those times where you are running in the red or running to the mall. So, stay tuned.
