I’ll be honest, when I saw that North American Allstars and Anders Osborne were next up at Red Butte, I sighed a little. More guitar-heavy southern rock and blues. Super. To be honest, the bigger pull was the opener: Lukas (son of Willie) Nelson.
But, as I did my due diligence on the show, something amazing happened. To be more specific, this happened:
Readers! Do you see what I see on the North Mississippi Allstars Wikipedia entry? Electric Washboard! OK, N.M.O., now you have my full attention.
But, because I’m a new fan (literally, five minutes ago) I don’t have a lot more information to give you. I don’t know if this is the kind of double-billing where each act plays a shorter-than-usual set, or if they will all play together (this is possible, since Osbourne and N.M.O. Released an album together a couple years ago). All I can tell you is that there better be an electric washboard on that stage.
And also, Lukas Nelson and his band Promise of the Real are really, really good. They’re worth the price of admission.
North Mississippi Allstars, Anders Osbourne and Lukas Nelson play Red Butte Friday, July 14. Doors at 6, show at 7.
